The Orbi Voice combines a Wi-Fi extender with an Alexa speaker

The Orbi Voice is a new speaker just announced by Harman Kardon and Netgear that combines the audio prowess of the former with the routing capabilities of the latter. The speaker is currently designed to work only with Orbi routers, and it matches the aesthetic of that lineup with a white finish and oval shape. Much like the routers it also has a ring LED on the top that helps display the speaker’s Wi-Fi status and connection to Amazon’s Alexa.

The speaker works with a free app that will let you adjust the volume and other functions from your smartphone. Thanks to Alexa, you’ll be able to access all of your favorite music streaming apps like Spotify. Pandora, and Amazon Music. The speaker will be just fine for playing music and talking to Alexa. Although it might not be as good as a more dedicated device like the Sonos One with Alexa, it’d definitely be a great stand-in for a room where you might have been thinking about adding an Echo Dot.

Since it works like a Wi-Fi repeater, you’…

Sennheiser just unveiled its first-ever truly wireless earbuds

Because good music can brighten up a bad day.

IFA 2018 in Berlin has been brewing with new product announcements of consumer electronics from brands like Marshall and Harman Kardon, with Sennheiser being one of the latest to show off its upcoming tech.

The Momentum True Wireless kicked off Sennheiser’s announcements as its first truly wireless earbuds, just as the name suggests. The company does offer the HD1 In-Ear Wireless Headphones, though they include a wire connecting the two earpieces, whereas these new headphones are similar to Apple’s AirPods which are entirely wireless. They offer high-resolution audio quality with 7mm dynamic drivers, AAC codec support, and the ability to work with Google Assistant, Siri, and other smart assistants.

These earbuds feature a battery life of up to four hours, though they also come with a charging case which can extend your playtime past 12 hours. You’ll be able to snag a pair for yourself beginning mid-November for $299.99; you can even pr…

How waterproof is the UE Wonderboom?

Best answer: The UE Wonderboom has an IP67 water resistance rating, which means it can be submerged in up to 3 feet (or 1 meter) of water for up to 30 minutes.

Amazon: UE Wonderboom ($60 – $70)

The UE Wonderboom can withstand full submersion

If you’re looking for a quality Bluetooth speaker that you can use in the shower, take on hikes (even the rainy ones), or even to take by the pool, then the UE Wonderboom can tag along.

It’s water-resistant enough to survive submersion in up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes. Any deeper or longer and the water pressure may prove too much for any water-tight seals or gaskets on your Wonderboom.

What does IP67 mean?

You’ve probably seen this rating, in particular, being mentioned over the last years, specifically in the smartphone market. The Ingress Protection (IP) rating is given to products based on how dust-resistant and water-resistant they are.

The first digit, in this case the 6, refers to solid particle protection. Six is the highest…

How to connect your older Sonos speakers to AirPlay 2

Though AirPlay 2 is only supported in four Sonos speakers, you can still use it with older Sonos speakers if you have at least one AirPlay 2-enabled Sonos speaker.

Products Used In This Guide

Amazon: Sonos One ($199)
Amazon: Sonos Playbar ($699)
Apple: iPhone X ($999)
The Guide

Group your older Sonos speaker to an AirPlay 2 compatible Sonos speaker

Launch the Sonos app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap the More tab at the bottom-right of the screen.
Tap Settings.

Tap AirPlay.
Turn on Group non-AirPlay Speakers.

This will keep non-AirPlay supported Sonos speakers grouped with AirPlay supported ones.

What you need

You’ll need a least one AirPlay 2-supported Sonos speaker in order to use it with older, non-supported ones.

The Sonos One is the best option for anyone that already has an older Sonos speaker that doesn’t support AirPlay 2. It’s the least expensive of the four compatible ones and can act as an AirPlay conduit for all your other Sonos speakers.

AirPlay 2 support

Sonos …

Another year, another Apple Watch. That’s what’s been happening since the Watch was introduced in 2005, at least. Shuttle craft to starship iPhone, Apple’s wrist-computer has been updated just as steadily as its pocket-computer going on several years now. And that’s not likely to change any time soon.

Using the Nintendo Switch with big hands

Hold on for dear life!

The Nintendo Switch is a great gaming machine, but like most other handhelds, it can be a bit uncomfortable to use for someone with big hands. As someone who dons such an attribute, I can tell you that it’s important to do whatever you can to make sure you have a comfortable grip on your Nintendo Switch.

Why’s it so important? Comfort is where it all begins. Not only do you want to make sure you don’t hurt yourself, but you also want to cut down on hand fatigue, something that can eventually cause you to lose grip and drop the device. It also means you’ll be more effective in your games, as you won’t have to do finger gymnastics to hit the buttons you need. Here are some tips to get a better grip and make sure you don’t drop the thing.

Buy a case

Unfortunately, Nintendo made a huge oversight when creating the Switch: there’s no way to attach a lanyard to the thing! There are grills at the top where one could be attached to, but the plastic on it is far to…

Lenovo’s Jedi Challenges headset is getting a Dark Side update

Finally, we can be bad guys.

Disney and Lenovo are pushing out the biggest update to the Jedi Challenges experience yet, and releasing some new hardware to accompany the release. The Dark Side Expansion is a free update for existing Jedi Challenges owners, and as the name suggests it allows you to fight and train as the only living wielder of that power in the Star Wars universe today. But since it would be weird to fight as Kylo Ren using Rey’s weapon, Lenovo is also making his now infamous cross-guard saber available as a limited edition upgrade you can buy.

Jedi Challenges owners have been asking about playing as the baddies from day one, and this new content pack gives you the whole experience. As Kylo Ren, you’ll be able to fight Rey, Yoda, Luke, and many more as you climb through a similar difficulty tree as the original game system. Also found in this update is a new PvP gameplay mode, called Ship Battles. Like the original map-based strategy game included int he headset, yo…

Harman’s all new audio equipment lineups are taking IFA 2018 by storm

So much new to talk about.

IFA 2018 tech show is currently underway in Berlin. The American equivalent would be the Consumer Electronics Show, so you can imagine a lot of companies use this as a chance to introduce brand new tech lineups. Harman, Samsung’s audio subsidiary, is taking the opportunity to announce several different types of audio products this week.

The first announcement is the Harman Kardon Citation speaker series. This will be a modular home audio setup where you can buy the speakers individually or buy them together and create a surround sound system, which is similar to what Sonos does with its speakers. The entire system will cover four tabletop speakers, one sound bar, a subwoofer, and floorstanding towers. They will also have Google Assistant built in, which is a trend we’ve seen a lot from IFA speaker announcements this week.

The Harman Kardon Enchant series is getting two new versions, the Enchant 800 and Enchant 1300. These sound bars use Harman Kardon’s pr…
