Yelp is updating its app with a focus on personlization.
Set preferences like dietary restrictions, food, lifestyle, interests and more.
Then you’ll be suggested places that fit those preferences.
Set your preferences for a personalized Yelp experience.

Yelp is making it much easier to customize your discovery experience with a new update. Rolling out for Yelp on iOS and Android, the update introduces a more personalized home screen and search results, making easier than ever to find a place of interest.

Here’s what Yelp said about the update:

For the first time, when two people with different lifestyles open the Yelp app from the same time and place, their homescreen and the entire search experience will be organized and personalized for them. For example, a gluten-free pet owner who likes hiking and brunch will see a very different homescreen and search experience than a vegetarian parent who loves donuts, farmer’s markets and breweries.

Apple releases watchOS 6 developer beta 9

Installing the watchOS 6 beta is more complex than an iOS or macOS beta, but it’s also for developers only.

Of Apple’s four primary operating systems (iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS), only watchOS lacks a public beta, which isn’t surprising, given how comparatively complicated is. You need to install a certificate on your Apple Watch, then download the software to your iPhone running the iOS 13 beta, transfer it across, and get it up and running. It’s not hard, but it does take patience and you may have to troubleshoot.

Apple occasionally offers updates to iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS as closed developer previews or public betas for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac (sadly, no public beta for the Apple Watch). While the betas contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that can prevent the normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a primary device. That’s why we strongly recommend staying away from develop…

Will Mario Kart Tour have Microtransactions?

Best Answer: Yes, the game is initially free-to-start, but players will have the option of paying for stamina and items through in-app purchases. It’s possible game mechanics and microtransactions could change between now and the game’s launch. It releases on compatible mobile devices on September 25.

Mario Time!: Mario Kart Tour for iOS (Pre-register at the App Store)
It’s a me, Mario!: Mario Kart Tour for Android (Pre-register at the Google Play Store)
I’m-a gonna win

Nintendo’s current App Store listing for the game states that the game is free-to-play but that it also offers in-app purchases. We still don’t know a lot of information about how this game works, but from the screenshots Nintendo has shared, it looks like unlocking cars and characters will cost coins. We’ve still got a while to go before the game launches, so things could change between now and then.

It’s unclear when Threads is going to launch.
Instagram is reportedly working on a new standalone messaging app that will allow users to share their status, location, and more. The Verge got an early look at the app in action and said it looks similar to Instagram’s current messaging feature.

Apple’s future MacBook keyboards could work a lot different

What you need to know

Apple filed a new patent that could change its MacBook keyboards in a big way.
Instead of using mechanical switches, Apple’s keyboards would use light to detect pressing.
The name of the patent is ”Optical Keyboard.”
Apple hints at this new futuristic keyboard in a patent filing.

Apple has a sordid track record with keyboards. Pre-2016, barely anybody complained about the keyboards found in its MacBooks. But since it moved to the butterfly switches, everything went down in the dumps. Apple is already prepared to go back to scissor switches for its next refresh, but down the line, it could ditch mechanical switches entirely.

First spotted by AppleInsider, a new patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office suggests Apple is considering light to detect key presses.

The patent is called ”Optical Keyboard:”

Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices with input devices. An input device may include a button or a key of a keyboard…
