It’s really not worth buying Contra Rogue Corps for Nintendo Switch

A bland multiplayer shooter with a horrible camera.

When Contra Rogue Corps was first announced I got excited. Perhaps we’d finally get a Contra title that was an equal to the classic games of old. After all, it’s been several years since a good Contra game released. However, to my disappointment, Konami’s game didn’t provide enough to keep me remotely interested. It’s horrible because it really did have a lot of potential.

The game starts off several years after the events of Contra III: The Alien Wars. A section of the planet has been turned into the Damned City, a place where abominations live and people go mad from too much exposure. Thing is, there are plenty of goodies in the city as well, which draws mercs and desperate folks to the area. You’ll take control of a band of mercs who enter the city looking for plunder. Your main goal is to survive, level up, become stronger, and earn money. While the characters themselves are interesting enough, the gameplay really just isn’t g…

What’s in your wallet? Terrific multi-use cases for iPhone 11 Pro Max

Wallet cases for iPhone serve two useful purposes. They both protect your handset and give you a place to store your bank and ID cards. Our favorite wallet case, the BookBook vol. 2 from Twelve South, also has room for some cash. We’ve included other cases here that may better match your needs.

Best Overall: Twelve South BookBook vol. 2

Twelve South’s BookBook case lineup has been around for many years, and with each new release, a tweak here and there make them even better. The BookBook vol. 2 case for the iPhone 11 Pro Max makes your handset look like a mini leather book. Inside, you’ll find room for bank cards, IDs, and cash. There’s also a window slot that provides edge-to-edge protection. It’s here where Twelve South suggests putting your titanium Apple Card or ID since it offers a stain-free environment while also protecting your phone from the card’s metal edges.

Uniquely, the BookBook case also includes a removable magnetic leather iPhone shell for those times when you …

Teardown of 40mm Apple Watch Series 5 uncovers new battery design

There’s more to the device beneath the surface.

Image: iFixit

What you need to know

iFixit’s teardown of the 40mm Apple Watch Series 5 reveals a new battery design.
Instead of a foil pouch, the battery is enclosed in a metal casing.
iFixit said the metal casing is more space efficient and makes the battery physically stronger.
Earlier this week, iFixit tore apart the 44mm Apple Watch Series 5, finding that the wearable is very similar to the now discontinued Series 4. You’d expect the same findings inside the 40mm Apple Watch Series 5, but that’s not entirely the case.

iFixit looked inside the 40mm Apple Watch Series 5 and discovered a 10% larger battery along with a new battery design.

Instead of the usual dark-colored outer foil pouch surrounding the battery (which most lithium-ion batteries sport), we noticed a snazzy new metal casing, most likely aluminum. This is the first time we’ve seen this is an Apple product, and it might tell us something about the future of battery…

7.5W wireless chargers are being capped off at 5W on iOS 13.1, says report

What you need to know

New tests by ChargerLAB reveal iOS 13.1 is capping the wireless charging capacity of iPhone 11 devices.
Tests show speeds have been capped out at 5W even for wireless chargers that support 7.5W speeds.
The issue seems to be a new fix-frequency voltage regulation Apple rolled out with iOS 13.1
The chargers are limited to 5W of wireless charging.

Testing conducted by ChargerLAB has revealed that iPhone 11 devices with iOS 13.1 installed have had their wireless charging speeds capped to 5W even when used with wireless charging pads capable of delivering 7.5W.

The lower power output results in slower charging speeds for the iPhone 11 devices. ChargerLAB notes that it conducted a wireless charging test of the iPhone 11 on iOS 13 and the result was impressive.

However, once Apple rolled out the iOS 13.1 update, the charging speeds changed.

As we can see, in iOS 13.1, the output power of the wireless charger only pulled 6-7W during our test. The power received …

Apple releases iOS 12.4.2 update for devices not supported by iOS 13

The update likely focuses on security improvements.

What you need to know

Apple has released iOS 12.4.2 for devices not supported by iOS 13.
That includes the iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
The update likely focuses on security fixes.
Out of the blue, Apple on Thursday released iOS 12.4.2 as an over-the-air update.

The update is available for these devices:

iPad Air
iPad mini 2
iPad mini 3
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6
iPhone 6 Plus
If you remember, these devices aren’t supported by iOS 13, but that doesn’t mean Apple has abandoned them completely. As 9to5Mac notes, these devices were updated to iOS 12.4.1 last month with a fix for a major vulnerability.

It’s unclear what’s new in iOS 12.4.2. Chances are the update was rolled out to squash bugs and introduce improved security. If anything of note rears its head in iOS 12.4.2, we’ll be sure to update this post.

If you’re on a newer device that does support iOS 13, Apple this week introduced iOS …

Yes, you can use a Pro Controller with Nintendo Switch Lite!

Best Answer: Surprisingly, yes, you can use a Pro Controller with the Nintendo Switch Lite. While the Nintendo Switch Lite is solely dedicated to handheld mode, you can still use the same controller accessories for it, including the Pro Controller and separate pairs of Joy-Cons.

Pre-order the Switch Lite: Nintendo Switch Lite ($200 at Amazon)
Game like a Pro: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller ($70 at Amazon)
Game with friends: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons ($70 at Amazon)
So I’m not bound to the built-in controllers on the Nintendo Switch Lite?

That’s right! The Nintendo Switch Lite was built and optimized for handheld mode only, which is why the controllers are built-in and can’t be removed like the Joy-Cons. The built-in controllers also don’t support HD Rumble or have the IR Motion Cameras that are needed for motion controls. So you won’t be able to play games that use motion controls, such as Mario Party, Mario Kart, Fitness Boxing, etc.

But all is not lost! The Switch Lite still has …
