They should put CarPlay in Airplanes

We can’t get enough of this Redditor’s idea…

What you need to know

A post on Reddit about CarPlay in airplanes has caught our attention.
Reddit user bigced97 suggested that you should be able to pair your own iPhone with in-flight entertainment screens.
Just like in a car, you’d get access to all your Apple entertainment content and even Apple Maps!

A Reddit users suggestion that CarPlay should be available in airplanes has got us really excited.

User bidced97 said in a post:

Imagine if you could have the option to pair your smartphone with the in flight screen so that you can access your own content at a nice big eye level screen. The built in entertainment system doesn’t always have the best options or user experience so what if Apple partnered with select airlines to bring a version of car play, the maps can show you time to destination, altitude, speed, bearing to the nearest VOR, little in flight statistics that people like to see. And then all the typical entertainm…

’Apple users are a cult’ argument pops up again, but it’s still tired

There are a lot of criticisms that can be leveled at Apple, but what can we do about it?

In his recent article, ’Against the Cult of Apple,’ writer and digital rights advocate Cory Doctorow laid out a case for Apple’s inclusion on ’The Evil List,’ Slate’s list of the 30 worst companies in tech. In the piece, Doctorow details Apple’s history of fighting ’right to repair’ legislation, its locking down of the iOS app ecosystem, its, to put it generously, muddled history with China, and more. These are all excellent points (though I do have a number of issues with how Doctorow chooses to characterize some of them).

But his overall point is a sound one: Apple is not your friend. This is true. But it seems that Doctorow thinks that Apple is getting a pass that other companies don’t because it has its customers enthralled, cult-like, at the altar of the latest shiny iPhone. From ’Against the Cult of Apple’:

This overall exemption from scrutiny—Slate’s Evil List, in which the company…

M. Night Shyamalan and Apple sued over ’Servant’ show’s similarity to movie

What you need to know

M. Night Shyamalan and Apple are being sued.
It’s alleged that ”Servant” borrows themes from a movie.
The 2013 movie ”The Truth About Emanuel” starred Jessica Biel.

Damages are being sought.

Apple and M. Night Shyamalan are being sued because ”Servant” is similar to a 2013 movie called ”The Truth About Emanuel,” according to The Blast.. Show creator Tony Basgallop is also named on the suit.

Francesca Gregorini, director of ”The Truth About Emanuel” claims that the Apple TV+ show has the same ”cinematic language” and a ”substantially similar feeling, mood, and theme” as the movie. Both the movie and TV show feature similar themes, although the trailer for the former doesn’t make that obvious.

While Apple and Shyalaman say that ”Servant” was being worked on before 2013, that isn’t washing with some people.

”Defendants have arrogantly dismissed Ms. Gregorini’s protests by vaguely claiming that Servant was in development long before Emanuel was made a…

It’ll also appear in cinemas, too.

Apple TV+ has picked up a new documentary based on the story of the infamous rap trio. It’s produced by Spike Jonze and includes Beastie Boys Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond discussing everything from way back in the 1980s.
