How to use Apple Music playlists in iTunes

Apple Music playlists help you discover and keep track of new music in iTunes in a whole new way.

If you've subscribed to Apple Music then you may already be familiar with the playlists curated by Apple Music editors. They show up in the "For You" and "New" tabs, and they include all sorts of interesting things to listen to. You can add these playlists to listen to them any time in iTunes.

You can still create your own playlists, Smart Playlists and playlist folders in iTunes just as you always have. But as you add playlists from Apple Music, you'll see a new category appear in your iTunes sidebar called Apple Music Playlists. As the name implies, these are the playlists you add via Apple Music.

Apple Music populates For You with playlists curated based on your tastes.

  2. Select the playlist under Apple Music Playlists you'd like to delete.
  3. Tap the delete key on the keyboard. Alternately, option-click the playlist, and select delete.

How to download an Apple Music playlist

Streaming Apple Music from iCloud keeps music from taking up space on your drive. If you want to listen to your music without an Internet connection, you can make the tracks available offline.

  1. Click on Playlists.
  2. Option-click on the name of the Apple Music playlist you want to download.
  3. Select Make available offline.

Alternately, if you're in the playlist, you can also click the iCloud status icon in the playlist title bar to download the entire playlist. (If you wish to download individual tracks for offline listening, click the iCloud status icon next to each song.)

How to share Apple Music playlists

Sharing your discoveries with your friends and family is a big part of the fun of Apple Music. If you've found (or created) a playlist you'd like to let everyone else know about, let others know!

  1. Select a playlist you'd like to share.
  2. Click on the Share sheet button in the title bar of the playlist.
