Getting the Shiny Charm dramatically increases your chances of getting shiny Pokémon, but it takes work to get it.
The Crown Tundra will be available to Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass holders soon, giving players access to a new map populated by more than 100 additional Pokémon. If you want to catch the super rare shiny versions of Nidorino, Magamar, and others, your best bet is to get the Shiny Charm. Here's how to get the item and increase your chance of catching shiny Pokémon.
How to get the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Sword and Shield
There are a few steps that you'll need to complete in order to get the Shiny Charm. Here they are.
Complete the Pokédex
The Shiny Charm is a reward that's given to you after you've completed the Galar region Pokédex. That means you'll need to have caught and registered all 400 Pokémon from the Sword and Shield games. This is a challenging feat as some Pokémon are exclusive to Sword, and others are exclusive to Shield.
You'll need to trade Pokémon with players that own the opposite version if you hope to catch them all. If a Pokémon is available in your game but you're having a rough time finding it, check the specific Pokédex entry for that Pokémon and then view it's habitat. You'll be able to see the location and weather conditions that the Pokémon spawns in. Just note that some Pokémon must be given to you by an NPC and don't spawn anywhere in Galar.
Talk to the man at the Circhester hotel
Once you've completed the Pokédex, travel to Circhester. Take a right immediately upon entering the city, and you'll see a building with several flags hanging from it. This is the Hotel Ionia. Enter the building and take the elevator up a floor.
Now head to the room on the far left of the building. Inside you'll find a few different people. Head to the back and talk to the man dressed like a tired doctor. You might recognize him as the man who gave you the Catching Charm earlier in the game. Upon verifying that you've completed the Pokédex, he'll hand over the Shiny Charm.
Once this is done, your chances of seeing a shiny go up from 1/4096 to 1/1365.33. That increases the odds quite a bit!

Once you've caught all of the Pokémon in the Galar region and completed the Pokédex, you'll be able to go to the hotel in Circhester and receive the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This also gives you a certificate stating that you've caught every Pokémon in the Galar region Pokédex. You might want to screenshot that baby and post it on your social media accounts.
