Twitter is reportedly planning to support posts longer than 140 characters

Twitter may finally give users of its social networking service an official way to share posts that are longer that its current 140 character limit. At the moment, it's not clear just what this product will look like.

According to Re/code:

In addition to the long-form product, execs have been openly discussing the idea of tweaking how Twitter measures its 140-character limit by removing things like links and user handles from the count, multiple sources say.

Twitter has already removed the 140 character limit for direct messages, and there are third-party products that allow users to post images with text that get around the current limit.
