Apple takes a stab at accessory makers with its first battery case for the iPhone 6s

Apple seemingly wants to take on accessory makers as the company has outed its first battery case for the iPhone 6s. The Smart Battery Case, available in both white and charcoal grey, is yours for $99 and can reportedly provide up to 18 hours of LTE browsing or 20 hours video playback. The case itself is silicone and connects to the iPhone 6s via the Lightning port to provide charge.

Interestingly, the accessory also works with the similarly designed iPhone 6, though there's not yet an option for Plus owners of either generation. While the case itself looks rather promising, there is a slight hump to the rear of the accessory, which may put off owners who enjoy a more thin and sleek-looking handset. That said, there are always going to be minor trade-offs when it comes to battery extension via cases.

Will you be picking one up to extend the life of your iPhone 6 or 6s?
