Amazon offers discounts on Showtime, Starz and other streaming services when bundled with Prime

In a bid to make video service subscriptions easier to manage for both customers and providers, Amazon has announced its new Streaming Partners Program. With the program, streaming video providers can offer their services to customers through Prime, which customers can then add to their existing Prime membership. The aim is to give users one spot in which to view and manage all of their various subscription content.

To start off, both Showtime and Starz are offering their video services at lower prices through Prime, with each available for $8.99 per month after a free trial. In fact, Amazon says that all services will feature Prime-only price discounts for partner services, as well as free trails.

In addition to lower pricing and free trials, Prime Video users will also get the following benefits:

  • Latest episodes available simultaneous with broadcast
  • Convenience of one account
  • One Watchlist across all subscriptions
  • Self-service cancellation of any subscription at anytime
  • IMDb X-Ray integration
  • Unified search and browse across subscriptions
  • Unified voice search and ASAP on Fire TV

Amazon says that partners benefit from reduced friction with customers, as services no longer need to handle credit cards, billing, or customer service. All of the services also go through Amazon's own infrastructure, and is available on any device with an Amazon Video app.

Initial launch partners include Showtime, Starz, A&E's Lifetime Movie Club, AMC's Shudder and SundanceNow Doc Club, Gaia, the Smithsonian, and more. You can add these services to your Prime account now.
