Apple reportedly working on new scaleable 3D Touch tech for iPads

According to a new report, Apple is unsurprisingly hard at work on new scaleable pressure-sensitive display tech to bring 3D Touch to iPad screen sizes. The report, from *Apple Insider, notes that the new approach is required because the 3D Touch tech on the iPhone 6s isn't scaleable to iPad screen sizes:
According to a source familiar with the matter, Apple is unable to scale existing 3D Touch technology to accommodate larger displays like the 9.7-inch panels used in the iPad Air line. The source, who has in the past provided accurate information about Apple's future plans, said the company is working on a comparable technology for integration in both iPhones and iPads, potentially offering support for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple's largest iOS device.
The report mentions that the tech is unlikely to appear in the next iteration of the iPad Air, but we could see it in the following generation.
Overall, this shouldn't come as much of a shock. Every Apple device from the Apple Watch to the iPhone and iPad uses slightly different tech, and it makes sense that Apple would be working on newer display tech to integrate 3D Touch into future iPads. However, if true, the report does give us a bit of a peek into the timeline of when we might expect 3D Touch to make it to Apple slates.
