Former Apple marketing director Michael Gartenberg joins iMore as Analyst in Residence!

Michael Gartenberg was, until recently, senior director of worldwide product marketing at Apple. Now he's trying something new — Analyst in Residence here at iMore!
When I first joined Twitter back in 2008 and followed the people I knew in the tech community, I quickly saw the same name being re-tweeted again and again. The tweets contained deep, often disruptive insight into the industry and, of course, Sorkin-esque humor. Yes, Gartenberg had me at Sorkin.
I kept following Gartenberg as he went to work at Gartner, as he tracked the ascent of pocket computers and tablets and, eventually, as he disappeared into Phil Schiller's organization at Apple in Cupertino.
For the next couple of years, I caught the very occasional glimpse of him at Apple events, saw the rare The Newsroom tweet, and did my best to humor the egregious claims about the quality of New York bagels. So it was that, while other industry analysts started their own sites and brought increasing and well-deserved attention to the role, Gartenberg had gone dark.
Until now.
At the beginning of the year, Gartenberg left Apple, moved back east, and was eager to write again. Since we here at iMore had always enjoyed his brilliant, insightful, and often provocative style, we gladly gave him a platform for occasional guest columns. In the background, though, we talked about more.
This is the start of that more: As of April 1, Gartenberg is joining iMore — and our parent company, Mobile Nations — as analyst in residence.
