2017 iPhone could ditch bezels for edge-to-edge display

On the latest episode of his podcast, The Talk Show, Daring Fireball's John Gruber divulged some interesting potential details about 2017's iPhone. While this year's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are rumored to adhere to the design language of the iPhone 6 and 6s, the 2017 iPhone could see a radical design change with the removal of the "chin and forehead", which currently house the Touch ID Home button, earpiece, FaceTime camera, and sensors.

…There have been some rumors, I guess, but what I'm saying is that I've heard this independently that it is completely getting rid of the chin and forehead on the phone, and the entire front face will be the display. And that the Touch ID sensor will be somehow embedded in the display, the front-facing camera will somehow be embedded in the display, the speaker, everything. All the sensors will somehow be behind the display.
What I don't know, I have no idea, but whether that means that they're going to shrink the actual thing in your hand to fit the screen sizes we already have, or whether they're going to grow the screens to fit the devices we're already used to holding, I don't know.
The iPhone bound for 2017 has previously been said to feature a major design change, including the removal of a dedicated Home button and the introduction of an OLED display. Removing the chin and forehead, while maintaining the screen size of the iPhones, would allow Apple to shrink the phones without shrinking the display.
