SOS helps Apple Watch users get in touch with emergency services in a snap

Alongside a slew of other improvements hitting the Apple Watch with watchOS 3, Apple announced that a new feature called SOS will allow users to quickly reach emergency services when needed. When in an emergency, Apple Watch users can simply hold down the side button, which will bring up the shut down options as normal, but also start a countdown for getting in touch with emergency services (9-1-1 in the U.S.).

Once enabled, SOS will also send out a notification with your location to your emergency contacts. SOS will also bring up your Medical ID, so when responders reach you, they can see your blood type, allergies and more that you've pre-entered. The feature will work around the world, meaning that, even if you don't know the emergency number in a new country where you're traveling, your Apple Watch does.
