Here are the 2016 iPhone Photography Award winners

The iPhone Photography Awards (iPPA) is a yearly competition that sees some incredible photographs submitted, which were all captured on an iPhone. The winners for 2016 have been unveiled and the standard has never been higher. Submissions were received from 139 countries worldwide and awards for first, second, and third place were handed out in 19 separate categories.
Photographers were able to take advantage of all he different elements found in the world for their entry. Categories included: abstract, animals, architecture, children, flowers, food, landscape, lifestyle, nature, news & events, other, panorama, people, portrait, seasons, still life, sunset, travel, and trees.
The grand prize winner of Photographer of the Year for 2016 was named Siyuan Niu of China for his entry The Man and the Eagle. It's a beautiful close-up shot of man with his trusty companion.
First place was awarded to Patryk Kuleta of Poland for his submission from his series the Modern Cathedrals.
Robin Robertis of the United States took second place for her entry titled She Bends with the Wind.
Finally, third place went to Carolyn Mara Borlenghi of the United States for the entry from her series Wonderland.
It's interesting to see just how camera technology is advancing in smartphones, and how Apple's own development pays off when its hardware can achieve such exquisite results as displayed in this year's iPhone Photography Awards.
