If you do a lot of online shopping on your Mac, Apple Pay hasn't done much for you so far; however, with macOS Sierra and iOS 10 that's all about the change! Soon you will be able to authorize payments made on your Mac by using Apple Pay on your iPhone, which means no more typing your credit card information into every site that needs it.
How it works
If you're shopping online in Safari and on macOS Sierra, some online stores will have a Buy with Pay. When you click that button, your Mac will then request authorization from your iPhone via Continuity. From there all you have to do is use your fingerprint to authorize the sale and your purchase is complete!
How to allow payments on the web in Safari on Mac
In macOS Sierra, you will need to allow Safari to look for the Apple Pay service on websites. You will find the option in Safari's privacy settings.
How to allow payment on Mac on iPhone
On your iPhone, you'll need to make sure you allow Apple Pay to authorize payments on a Mac.
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
Tap the On/Off switch beside Allow Payments on Mac. You'll want the switch to be green.
