How to manually add podcasts to your favorite podcast app

Not finding your favorite podcast in your favorite iOS podcast app? Here's how to add it.

Apple's quite stringent when it comes to what content appears in its native apps, and other apps may also neglect certain podcasts based on content. That form of censorship sucks, but it could also be because the people who make your favorite podcast don't have the resources to get their podcast onto certain platforms.

If podcasts you want to listen to seem to be missing from your favorite podcast app, then you can add them in manually. Here's how.

How to manually add a podcast to Podcasts on iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch Podcasts from your Home screen.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Edit on the top right of your screen.
  4. Tap Add a Podcast by URL.
  5. Paste in the URL.

  6. Tap Subscribe.

How to manually add a podcast in Pocket Casts for iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch Pocket Casts from your Home screen.
  2. Tap Discover.
  3. Enter the URL in the search bar.
  4. Tap the Search button.

  5. Tap the podcast.

How to manually add a podcast in Overcast for iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch Overcast from your Home screen.
  2. Tap Add Podcast.
  3. Tap Add URL on the top right of your screen.
  4. Enter the URL for the podcast you want to add.

  5. Tap Done.

How to manually add a podcast in Downcast for iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch Downcast from your Home screen.
  2. Tap Add on the bottom of your screen.
  3. Tap Add Podcast Manually.
  4. Enter the URL in the FEED OR OPML ADDRESS field.

  5. Tap Done.

How to manually add a podcast in Castro for iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch Castro from your Home screen.
  2. Tap the search button on the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Tap the search bar.

  4. Paste the URL of the podcast you'd like to manually add.
