If you're not familiar with Stardew Valley, it's an indie farming simulation game that originally came out in 2016. Many people have compared it to Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, but there are some features that set Stardew Valley apart, such as RPG combat.

The game begins with you taking over your grandfather's farm and learning to operate it on your own. It's a huge change for your character, since you move out to the countryside (you came from the city), and must start life anew. As you get to your farm, you'll need to clear land to plant and tend crops, raise livestock, craft various goods, mine for ore, and socialize with the townsfolk. The socializing involves romantic endeavors and eventually leads to marriage (and if you want, babies) — all while expanding your farm and following in your grandfather's footsteps.

The developers designed the game to keep players busy for over 50 hours, and the version for iOS is no different. You won't be getting a watered-down experience here.

If you've played and invested dozens of hours into the PC version of Stardew Valley, you can still take advantage of this new port since you can transfer your save data to the iOS version through a wired iTunes transfer. Mods are not supported, however, and save files with mod data may have compatibility issues. Unfortunately, if you've played Stardew Valley on consoles, there's currently no way to get that save data over.

Stardew Valley on iOS contains everything from the 1.3 version of the game in terms of story. Unfortunately, there's no multiplayer support yet.

The controls are optimized for touch screens, so you tap on where you want to move and what object you want to interact with. Tools are automatically chosen for you, depending on what you tap. Combat is simplified with auto-attacking whenever enemies are near you, so you don't have to worry too much except for the tougher enemies that pose a bigger threat.

We're huge fans of Stardew Valley because it's one of the most relaxing yet addictive farm sim games since Harvest Moon. If you haven't played it yet, then now is your chance! You get the full game for $7.99, and there are no in-app purchases, so you just pay once and enjoy.
